The landscape of legends

The crown standing above the Dyfi Valley, Cadair Idris was carved by glaciers in the last ice age and standing at 893m, sits towering over the landscape today. Welsh legend translates the names as the Chair of Idris, a giant who roamed the lands 1400 years ago. From a pyramid summit, you will gaze over crystal clear lakes and see the whole of the West Wales coast curve around you.

And a legendary ride

Today its rugged slopes are awash with scree with a legally ridable bridleway snaking right to the summit. Starting from the valley floor this is a big day out, but our expert local guides will help you on your way to the stunning peak. And there's more to reward you than just the view. An alpine-esque trail drops 800m, weaving through rocks and boulders before bursting into pasture land and trees. The longest descent in Mid Wales is sure to leave your arms pumping, and you wanting more.
